Frills with an Edge

No idea what these are editorials for but they are really beautiful, the mix of colour texture and fabric really work and the edgy poses make the girly clothes look sexy.

Street Style

Coggles.

I'm attempting to pack for my weekend away in London to London Fashion Week (!!!). I'm excited but also a little nervous as I'm unsure what to expect, will I feel really out of my depth? And of course the big question is - what shall I wear?? I need to look stylish but I'm going to be doing a lot of walking and lugging around heavy camera equipment so I need to be comfortable and warm as you never know with the weather in England. I've been looking for inspiration and love what these guys are wearing.

Colour Crush

Forget camel, bye-bye black, au revoir pink, for me it’s all about Burgundy. It is so rich and warm and beautiful it makes me want to swim in it, wrap myself in it, feast my eyes on it. I don't care how and in what form but I want this colour as much as I can before it goes from the shops and out of my life. I am quite a fickle person and often get "crushes", be it on people, celebrities, clothes, books, anything really, so no doubt this is a passing phase and I will soon move on. But for now I will indulge.

How Much Velvet is Too Much Velvet?

At the moment i am obsessed with velvet. The very word is gorgeous, it makes me think of luxury, of Christmas, of Henry VIII, of parties, of elegance, of rock bands, of cake, of secrets, of 90's grunge, glamour, childhood, riches, night-time, and all round gorgeousness. It's a fabric that is hard to find and hard to wear, easily over done but when you get it right, oh my you get it right.

I love the velvet leggings, trousers, dresses, jackets and skirts that are around and that they are not all in low-key black or mid-night blue or even the slightly more daring red, but also in FLORAL. I know that it may not be every one's cup of tea but I for one adore it.

I'd Take my Hat off to them.

A good hat can really make can outfit, and most hats will go with almost anything and turn a nice outfit into a head turner. I want to try and wear hats more myself but I always feel self conscious and think I look too try hard, although I think anyone can carry anything off as long as they have the confidence. Looking at these girls I think the secret is to keep the rest of the look fairly understated with minimum fuss. They look so effortlessly cool!

Peg Leg

At the moment I am loving trousers (by the way isn’t trousers a gorgeous word? I’m so glad I’m English!). I particularly love the peg-leg/ tapered shape as I think the hareem shape is harder to where on a day-to-day basis because they look better with heels and the excessive material can be unflattering. I have a couple of pairs of tapered trousers now and I am thinking of getting more. They are so comfy and warm for winter and make a great alternative to jeans which I practically live in. I really like these cord ones from Zara.  What do you think?

I really like the colour and the length as i have really long legs and often find it hard to find trousers that are long enough for me. My last pair I had to lengthen as they stopped half way down my shin! Oh well, here's to Sparrow Legs! In a dream world I would love these by See By Chloe, but alas the student loan does not stretch that far!
